Great discussion with Elijah Nealy and his son Alex Lonzo together in the same studio at the same time discussing Alex permanent adoptive placement that didn’t occur until after he aged out of care. Go back first and listen to Alex be interviewed on 12/28/08 after he aged out of care and had no one. Then, listen to his dad, Elijah, be interviewed about his experience morally adopting Alex in an interview we did with Eli on August 9, 2009. Then listen to this wonderful discussion where we have both of them together talking about their relationship and the importance of being adopted and having a permanent home even after one ages out of foster care. Lots of surprises in this interview. We strongly urge those folks who might have some skepticism about finding permanent parents and families for youth and young adults in our care before they age out to listen to this interview and be inspired by this story where a permanent adoptive home was gotten for a young adult even after he aged out.
